Fundraising is a vital component to continue operations of any non-profit organization.

Spanda Inc. serves individuals both locally and throughout the world who have vision and other health care needs. Our programs are designed to help all individuals be as successful as possible in their daily living activities. To accomplish our goals, we rely on the generosity of individuals willing to donate both their time and monetary resources. Your donation can and will make a positive difference in the people we are serving. Please consider making a gift towards the health care needs of your local and international neighbors.

Adopt an Angel of Comfort Doll

Dolls can be a child's friend, playmate, or can carry their dreams and wishes.

Help us Fight Malnutrition!

The doll is named by the donor and will be given to a child in the clinic areas sponsored by Spanda Inc. The adoptive parent will receive an adoption certificate and a picture of the child receiving his or her doll. The cost per child for 4 weeks of nutritional treatment is a mere $35.00!. Buy a doll and honor the special people in your life: moms, dads, teachers, friends, while supporting the Spanda malnutrition program.

What am I adopting:
A Cedar Rapids volunteer, Mary Uthe, continuously hand crafts knitted dolls to be adopted by a donor and to be given to a child that is being treated for malnutrition and is living in a impoverished country. These dolls are known as Duduza Dolls-- “Duduza” is a word for “comfort”.

How does it work:
The doll is then given a name by its adoptive parent, then the doll is distributed to a child in the clinic areas sponsored by Spanda Inc, and a certificate with picture will be given to the adoptive parent.

Where is my money going:
A nutrition therapy treatment goes for four weeks (two to three times a day) at a cost of $35 per child. The doll will be distributed to poverty stricken children and the donation will rehabilitate a malnourished child for 4 weeks with our ready-to-use-therapeutic food (RUTF) program.

**The form gives us your contact information and the name you have designated for your Angel of Comfort Doll. A doll will be picked out by our volunteers (All dolls are unique and none are the same) and will be tagged with its name. They will either be shipped or personally delivered to the child. A certificate and picture will arrive in the mail showing that your gift, an angel of comfort doll was received.

Trash to Treasure

It is simple: collect old cell phones, empty ink jet cartridges, laser jet cartridges, or gold jewelry. This helps in two important ways—it saves our environment by recycling what would end up in the trash and helps to raise funds for the programs of the nonprofit, Spanda Inc., whose mission is to combine optometry with other health care specialties to improve the lives of all individuals—regardless of age or personal situations—throughout the world.

How can you Help?
It is simple, we ask you to collect any type of cell phones, empty ink jet cartridges, laser jet cartridges, or gold jewelry in a your place of business or at home. Remember every dollar raised can make a difference in the eyes of every man, woman, or child.

How does it work?
We know you are busy and the easier it is for you, the more successful the fundraising project will be.

  1. Notify us by email at spandainc@yahoo.com, subject line “Trash to Treasure” stating your interest to take part of the fundraiser.
  2. In the email, please note if you will be needing a box to collect the items and how many flyers you would need to post.
  3. Spanda Inc staff or volunteers will personally drop off requested material and will email the marketing materials to help get the word out that you will be collecting at your business, office, or home.
  4. You will also be given a spreadsheet of the dollar amounts of the value of the recycled item; for you to keep track for your records of what you have donated for tax purposes. This also allows transparency on how much we are collecting for the item from the partnering company that is paying us for these items.
  5. When you need to have the items collected, you can contact by email spandainc@yahoo.com, subject line “Trash Pick Up”. We then will have someone come out to collect the items from you and supply you with any additional material if needed.
  6. There is no commitment obligations or time constraints on being apart of the Trash to Treasure fundraising campaign. So how much, how little, how much time, or even how long you take part is decided by you.

THe Healing Power of Nature Photo Book

Spanda Inc., a local Cedar Rapids, Iowa, nonprofit is pleased to offer for sale the book, "The Healing Power of Nature." Experience the beauty of Africa through these amazing photographs taken during Spanda's recent mission trip to Kipkaren, Kenya, where Spanda has helped to build an eye and health care clinic. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the clean water and dentistry projects at the clinic.
