4th Annual Conference
Tackling Concussions: More than Meets the "Eye"
Cedar Rapids Vision In Motion and St. Lukes Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation invite you to join us Friday, February 24, and Saturday, February 25, 2012 in Cedar Rapids, IA for this year's continuing education conference. This year's conference will focus on concussions/acquired brain injuries and the vision disorders associated with them.
Friday will feature a special presentation from Dr. Mark Lovell and Dr. Jamie Pardini from ImPACT. ImPACT is a neuropsychological testing program that aids in the diagnosis and treatment of concussions. Saturday will feature family physician, Dr. Brian Meeker, DO; optometrist, Dr. DeAnn Fitzgerald, OD; and the Occupational Therapy Staff at Cedar Rapids Vision In Motion. Saturday's focus will be on vision disorders and disturbances commonly associated with concussions/acquired brain injuries.
7 CEH's will be given each day to OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Athletic Trainers and Neuropsychologists. Nurses will receive .96 CEU's Friday and .87 CEU's Saturday, credits are approvied by IBN #338. All other professions will be given CEH's based on their board requirements. Students and caregivers will be given a certificate of completion only.
A ceriticate of completion will be issued, and stamps for each workshop will be awarded to document attendance. An attendance roster for each workshop will be maintaied by Cedar Rapids Vision In Motion for everyone except nurses. Nurses will be awarded credit only on the basis of full completion each day of the program. Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance. A record of participation will be on file at Virgina Gay Hospital for 4 years following program completion.
Registration Information
The tuition fee includes continuing education credits, refreshments and lunch. Friday tuition includes a 200-page manual from ImPACT. Additional manuals will be available at the conference for a cost of $30 each.

"Get A Grip on Good Handwriting" Classes
Cedar Rapids Vision In Motion offers two handwriting programs to assist in the development of handwriting skills:
- Handwriting Without Tears™ Class is intended for children who are between 6-11 years old. Each class is an hour, and is limited to 8 students. Keep checking back to find out when the next class dates are.
- The Helping Hands Pre-Writing Class is intended for preschool age children (older 4 and 5 year olds). Keep checking back for next class dates.
Location is at Cedar Rapids Vision In Motion, 3255 Williams Blvd SW, Suite 2.
Carrie Paulsen, OTR/L teaches the class.
Cost is $130 plus a $20 materials and workbook fee and is payable upon registration for the classes.
